crying in the dressing room — guest post on Purpose in the Pain

Oh hey, Internet. Did you know that I cry sometimes? Yes. No secret. Did you know that I cry sometimes when I’m shopping for clothes? Yes. I guess that’s not a secret anymore. Tell me I’m not alone?

Standing in an H&M dressing room, tears streamed down my face. It was like I didn’t know what went with what anymore, and I had forgotten how to dress nicely. Either the top was too snug and the bottom too loose . . . or the top too loose and the bottom too snug? None of the Pinterest-approved outfits were quite right. What was a good outfit for work, for out with friends, for weekend activities . . . I simply didn’t know anymore. It had been so long since I shopped for clothing, perhaps too long. So it all felt bizarre, as if my body wasn’t my own.

Here’s the thing: I forgot about grace.
